Swansea University has once again achieved its highest rank in a UK league table, climbing 14 places to 31st out of 121 institutions in the Guardian University Guide 2019, making it Wales’ top ranked university.
Published in May 2018, the Guardian league tables focuses on the university activities that matter most to young people: quality of teaching, student satisfaction and employability.
The guide, produced by the independent company Intelligent Metrix, ranks universities according to: the university’s spend per student; the student/staff ratio; graduate career prospects; what grades applicants need to get a place; a value-added score that compares students’ entry qualifications with their final degree results; the proportion of students that continue with their studies and how satisfied final-year students are with their courses, based on results from the annual NSS.
The proportion of students satisfied with their course has increased significantly, with Swansea now ranked 13th in the UK. The table also confirms Swansea University as a sector leader in Wales, and as a top 20 ranking university in the UK (16th) for supporting students to achieve positive graduate outcomes.
